Mary and Me

UntitledHi, my name is Stephanie Heinrich and I am on a mission! This has been such an exciting year for me! First off, let me introduce myself. I live in Cincinnati, OH. I am a 100% single mom with two handsome boys, ages six and four. I am a Registered Nurse. I work in Ortho/Med Surgery. I absolutely love it. I feel like it is my mission in life to help people. I get a huge sense of satisfaction when I do good for my patients, my kids, and people in need. It is the most rewarding feeling in the world.

I wrote a book that I had self-published. It’s dedicated to Mary O’Connor. Mary was Hugh Hefner’s very powerful personal assistant. She was the gatekeeper and key master to the Playboy Mansion. She was the most amazing person in my life. She was my best friend, mentor, and the love of my life. She had my heart. When I was around her, I always felt special. She always had a common sense approach to everything. I learned so much from her about love, life, and charity.

I finished the book this year and I am very proud of it. Of course, it has a few typos. I am not a professional writer, so it took me two years to write it. It can be purchased at Barnes & Noble and on Amazon.com. I have shown it to several TV and movie professionals, and they like it. Gray Frederickson’s production company (Godfather’s, Apocalypse Now) is currently scripting my story along with other anecdotal stories from people and friends who knew Mary. Mr. Frederickson has an Emmy Award winning writer working on it. The working title is Mary and Me.
This is like a dream come true, and Mary helped me realize that dream. I am one of two Playmates who were mentioned in Mary’s will. I used part of the inheritance to turn around my life for me and my kids as Mary would have wanted. Then I took the rest of the money and spent it on developing a book about Mary and me, and create a vehicle to tell the world about this marvelous woman. It is All About Mary! Voila, a World Book Tour, a Television Series, and a possible Feature Film!

You need to read the book, but here is an overview. It starts with my background, how I got into Playboy, how I ended up living at the mansion. Then it goes into the fun times as a bunny. I was one of the original seven with Holly Madison. Those were crazy times. It tells about funny dating stories, my marriage that ended in divorce and my two boys. It tells the story of having it all, and then not having it all. Mary coached me through some of the darkest parts of my life. It also demonstrates that when you have the right person cheering you on like Mary, you can create a life that can be enriched through your hard work and dedication.

When I arrived at the Mansion, I met Mary and we had a little bit of a misunderstanding. I was afraid of her, and she was not someone I wanted to get to know. After a short time went on, we ended up having to room together one night on the road, and we fell in love as in a mom and daughter/best friend relationship. After a year at the Mansion, I wanted to grow in my career as a Bunny and travel the world and meet people, so I left on great terms to start my next adventure. As I traveled all over the world, I went on fun sometimes-crazy dates and relationships with celebrities and rock stars. After a break-up of a long-term relationship with a top country western singer, I spiraled out of control. I went through a period of “ups and downs” before hitting rock bottom. Guess who was always there to pick me up, dust me off, and push me out the door again.

My marriage ended a few years after it began and I ended up having to move back to Ohio from California to live with my mom and dad and restart my career so I could take care of my kids on my own. I never thought about becoming a nurse but one day it popped into my head and I was like, “yes this is what I want and need to do.” After the birth of my second son, I immediately started working as a nurse aide. I was making $11 an hour and cleaning up after geriatric patients. There were times at the beginning that I didn’t know why or understand how my life ended up this way. A few months later I enrolled in nursing school while still working as a nurse aide. This whole time of going through hard times and figuring myself out, Mary was there to cheer me on and give me encouragement. It was still hard but I kept pushing and keeping my eye on the prize. Mary fell very ill while I was in school and due to my schedule and not being able to afford to miss school or work I could not go out to California to see her before she passed. We had a 7-minute phone call to say our goodbyes and that was the hardest thing I had to do. Say goodbye to my love, my best friend, my mentor! Mary was the strongest person I have ever met! Right after I said goodbye to her I had to take a microbiology exam. (Mary died 5 days later). I was so upset but at that moment in my life I grew more strong then I had ever been. I had to keep going. I went into my classroom after collapsing in the bathroom with tears and frustration and sat down and looked at my exam and said to myself this is for you Mary. I continued through school and graduated with my associates in nursing. The proudest moment of my life! My book is more a motivational book with a love story between two people. A young woman and her mentor. It shows that being a part of Playboy was not just about posing nude in a magazine but it was a stepping stone in letting me find myself and developing some friendships that meant the world to me.

I started a book tour this year and kicked it off in the Bahamas which is one of my favorite places in the world. My book tour is so fun, exciting and life changing. I get to travel to the most amazing places in the world with two of my best friends intact. Heather Spytek and Stephanie Larimore have been my best friends for years and having them a part of this adventure is like putting the final puzzle piece in! Like me they are always up for a good time and wanting to travel and make new adventures exciting! They also have a huge heart and the other part of my book tour is so special in having people with huge hearts be a part of because it is helping people/kids in these different parts of the world that we are traveling to.

I started a foundation called Far Out Kids. My mission is helping the far out kids off the beaten path. Raising awareness to these children is one of the most powerful things I could ever be a part of. When you walk into a school and you are greeted by hundred or more children, it is the best feeling in the world. Giving the children pencils, books and medical attention is so rewarding in seeing there return love in their big smiles and huge hugs! I have to admit that I have to keep my sunglasses on when I am there because my heart gets so filled with joy and seeing how these children live gets to me. My eyes will run with tears of mixed emotions. The first time my foundation delivered supplies was in Jamaica, I didn’t know what to expect when arriving. After we had been there for a few hours, I walked outside and fell to my knees. I looked up to the sky and thanked God and the universe for allowing me to be able to do this. As we drove away, everyone in the van looked off in silence at the school until it was out of site. We all couldn’t help but think I wish I could do more. That is the great thing about this foundation is that it being a part of my TV show, On a Mission, it will shed light and get the word out so people can donate or volunteer to help out in any way they can. We can continue to give support to schools like the one we just visited in Jamaica and stay in contact with them as they excel from our foundation.

Come join us on a mission and help make a difference in the world! Also enjoy watching my best friends and I explore different cultures, hike through jungles and other obstacles to get to some of the villages in need and at the end of the day go out and about and see and enjoy the night life.
